Become a SkateWeb Sponsor!

SkateWeb is now accepting paid advertising in the form of site-wide sponsorship buttons. When you buy a SkateWeb sponsorship, your ad will appear on all of SkateWeb's "directory" pages.

SkateWeb has been online since August, 1994. It was the very first web site devoted to figure skating, and remains one of the most popular and best-known skating sites on the net. SkateWeb has been featured in Time Magazine's 1998 Olympic preview, the New York Times, the Toronto Star, and the Wall Street Journal; and has always been listed as Yahoo!'s top-rated figure skating site.

In the 1999-2000 season, traffic to SkateWeb's "front page" has been in the range of 2,000-4,000 page hits per day (more while major skating events are taking place, less in the off-season). Site-wide, SkateWeb gets 5,000-10,000 page hits per day.

SkateWeb does not solicit or accept payment for adding "ordinary" links, or for featuring them more prominently. All paid advertising on SkateWeb is in the form of sponsor buttons that are clearly distinguishable from the editorial content.

Advertising rates and policies

Ad Specifications

120x60 button ( IAB/CASIE Button 2); 4K maximum file size; JPG or GIF; no animation.

Advertisers may supply up to four different creative images; if more than one image is provided, they will be rotated randomly as pages are served.

For each ad, please provide:

One of:
- The URL of a GIF/JPG image to be used as your creative
- A GIF/JPG image as an e-mail attachment
- A GIF/JPG image on a 3.5" floppy disk
The URL you want your ad to link to
A short (15 characters or less) text caption

Advertising Placement Policy

Ad buttons will appear in the menu bar area of each of SkateWeb's directory pages. This agreement does not include advertising on editorial content pages, such as individual articles. SkateWeb sponsorship is non-exclusive; more than one ad button may appear on each page, and the order in which ad buttons appear is not guaranteed.

Advertising space is limited and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Payment terms

The cost for purchasing a SkateWeb sponsorship (2001-2002 season) is $125/month.
The payment for the first payment period must be made in advance. A signed contract must also be received before any ads can be run.
Advertisers will be invoiced by e-mail at the beginning of each subsequent payment period. Payment is due on receipt.
Advertising will be pulled for accounts unpaid for more than 30 days.
One request for changes to your ads per month (i.e., adding or replacing ads in your rotation) is covered in the normal fee. Additional requests for changes are billed at $50 per request.
Please allow adequate lead time (at least 7 days) for setting up your advertisements.
Advertising space can be reserved up to 3 months in advance, but only upon receipt of a signed contract, the first month's payment, and the set-up fee.
SkateWeb accepts payment by check or money order, or electronic payment through PayPal.com.

Circulation statistics

SkateWeb will provide monthly page/ad view statistics to advertisers.

Restrictions

SkateWeb reserves the right to refuse any advertising material for any reason, including wording, appearance, or subject matter. SkateWeb does not accept advertising for alcohol, tobacco, firearms, pornography, or other adult services.

Advertising is accepted and published entirely on the condition that the advertiser will indemnify and save SkateWeb harmless from and against any suits based upon any aspect of subject matter of the advertisement.

Cancellation

Advertising can be cancelled by giving notice in e-mail or in writing. The first month's payment, and any set-up or change fees, are not refundable, except in the event that SkateWeb refuses the advertisement or is unable to serve it.
