From: Sandra Loosemore Subject: OBO simulation of Olympics scoring (semi-spoilers) Newsgroups: rec.sport.skating.ice.figure Date: 12 Feb 1998 10:05:10 -0500 Organization: Dr. Frog's Asylum for Wayward Cats I've been running OBO simulations on the scoring from the Olympics. Neither of the two pairs competition segments turned up any flip-flops under OBO, but the men's short program is full of them: * Vidrai's marks swapped Weiss & Shmerkin * Dmitrenko's marks swapped Weiss & Vidrai (so Weiss moved 2 places ahead of Shmerkin, whom he'd originally been behind) * Zag's marks swapped Pashkevitch & Tamura * Skorniakov's marks swapped Hernits & Gheorghe * Lee's marks put Hernits into a tie with Skorniakov * Anthony Liu's marks added Gheorghe into the tie with Hernits & Skorniakov; they remained in this 3-way tie in the final results. The input data and full results of the simulation are available on my web site at http://www.frogsonice.com/skateweb/obo/. -Sandra
