I am *very* angry about this and must insist that the publishers of this newsletter issue me a public apology, both here on the Internet and in print in their newsletter. I am told that the people responsible for this newsletter are Sherrie Holden and Jodi Holley (LesAmisDP@aol.com) and Don Edwards (EdwardsSk8@aol.com). It had never been my intent to make money off of my artwork. My purpose in copyrighting the pictures was solely and specifically to prevent unauthorized commercial use of my work by others. However, just to give you an idea of the amount of financial damages involved, I estimate the value of the rights to these pictures at $500 apiece (to cover my time in producing them), and I am told "Les Amis du Patinage" has used at least 10 of them. Rather than demanding such compensation, however, I would be satisfied if the publishers of "Les Amis du Patinage" would donate $1000 to the USFSA Memorial Fund in my name. If this matter isn't resolved to my satisfaction in short order, I *will* get my attorney involved. It is also possible that Yale University will want to take some legal action to assist me in asserting my intellectual property rights. I hope very much that a situation like this never arises again, either with my own work being ripped off by other skating publications or businesses, or with "Les Amis du Patinage" using the copyrighted work of others without their prior consent. -Sandra
