These are the Compulsory Maneuvers and the Contineous Program. There are eight General Rules governing these tests which can be divided into testing procedures and skating technique. The testing procedures include: 1. "All compulsory maneuvers must be taken separately unless the directions specify that they are to be taken in sequence. 2. Each compulsory maneuver may be attempted twice, and the better perfor- mance will be graded." 7. "No substitutions or omissions are permissible and any deviations from the listed requirements will render the test invalid. In the program part of a freestyle test, one maneuver from the next highest test may be included. This practice will assist the skater in his preparation for ISIA Competitions. (See ISIA Recreational Ice Skater Team Competition Standards.) 8. The minimum passing standards are described in this book;" (1983 - ISIA Recreational Skating Test Standards) "credit should be given if standards are exceeded when grading maneuvers." "Freestyle Testing" is another section of the ISIA rules that govern these tests. It states that the skater must perform all parts and be graded on same. A grading schdule is included. Grading of the program includes; posture, content, correctness, pattern, rhythm, duration, and interpretation. S M Hartley Stephen M.
