Kaeru stops to put on sunblock near the trailhead -- frogs are supposed to
be green, not red! The trailhead is at about 10,500 feet elevation so the
sun is very strong here.

A small meadow filled with wildflowers.

Closeup of some of the flowers. There are paintbrushes (red), asters (light
purple), and coreopsis (yellow) here.

Looking upstream from a footbridge. I almost killed myself by falling on
top of a dead tree while scrambling around off-trail along the bank of the
creek off the left side of the picture.

Mitchell Lake. That's Mt. Audubon in the background, elevation 13,223
feet.

|
Another view of the lake and mountain.

Kaeru takes in the view from the edge of the lake. There were many
small pesky flying insects here.
